Barrier-free tolling launched on Tambaram–Tindivanam highway

The National Highways Authority of India has launched a Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) tolling system at Paranur Toll Plaza on the Tambaram–Tindivanam section of the highway.

The Indian Express reported that the system uses automatic number-plate recognition together with FASTag-based electronic toll collection. Vehicles can pass through the tolling point without stopping at a conventional barrier.

The rollout is intended to reduce waiting at the toll point and is part of a wider NHAI plan to expand barrier-free tolling. Motorists are advised to keep their FASTag active and sufficiently funded.

The report describes this as Tamil Nadu’s first MLFF deployment. The information in this article is based on the October 1 report.
